Damnit Bevis.

It has been a while since I have sat down to write anything other than papers for school, but I actually have time between doing assignments, taking care of the kids, and my Skyrim addiction to get some thoughts out. As the poor souls on my Facebook page have seen I have been posting random pictures that bash religion and republicans, and it has offended some.  First off I am not either a republican or a democrat I believe politicians on both sides are willfully ignorant criminals. We have one side that feels the need to regulate firearms because people use them to kill others well then damnit regulate any type of tool because I have read of people getting killed by hammers. Then they want to tell us how to eat, what to drink, and what is politically correct in short they believe nobody can think for themselves so it has to be regulated. Also this side wishes to regulate video games so that kids cannot get their hands on the violent ones…what? For one thing parents are the ones who buy Lil Jimmy games and there already is a rating system in place that is clearly marked on the package…wait actually I believe both sides try to get into this particular argument. Still the point stands parents need to be parents get off Farmville and make sure Lil Jimmy knows it’s not ok to kill hookers and steal cars or don’t buy the kid the damn game in the first place, I know Gamestop checks ages as does Wal-Mart so who is to blame..hmmmmm?

Now the other side is just as bad but sadly also seem to get worse press due to some members of this team like to say some of the stupidest things, I know all politicians say stupid things, but here lately it’s just been ridiculous and it’s mainly the talk show hosts who really spout off and it does hurt the main cause. Now this side likes to try and regulate things such as marriage and abortion which as bad as this is to say neither of these issues are really that important. They are distractions to keep voters riled up because if they did not have these two issues what would the public focus on then? How none of the politicians are doing their real jobs? And yes both sides are guilty of this they lash out at each other for trying to regulate people’s choices but both try to regulate something that the government has no business really being in…who cares if somebody would rather eat a cheeseburger over a salad? Or who really gets married? Now we sit here with a huge national debt, tons of people out of work, not enough jobs being created, and companies still leaving the country and taking more jobs with them. Now many blame Bush no folks not his fault just like it’s not Obama’s it’s every politician’s they signed laws that allowed companies to leave, and now we expect those same companies to magically create more of them.
Gay marriage while I am for it I do have mixed feelings about the whole subject. Where I believe they should be allowed to marry just because well what really does it hurt? It cannot ruin the sanctity of something that has already been ruined. Seriously think critically about this for a moment, at least half the marriages end in divorce sometimes within the first month. And these are not celebrity divorces either also how sacred is something that can be done by an Elvis impersonator at a drive through chapel? It is against someone’s religions belief?  Ok again think without the bias marriage has nothing to do with religion in today’s society unless the couple getting married puts it there. First no church has to be gone through to get married it can be done at the previously mentioned drive through chapel, a courthouse, or Chucky Cheese’s if so desired. You have to pay a fee and get a license from the state to get married now did gay people make all of this sanctity possible? No. To get out of a marriage do you have to go through a church? Again no you file yet more papers and pay another fee to the state, and it’s the state and lawyers who decide who gets what, just as it is the state who decides what benefits a couple gets when married. So when a couple decides to use a church and have a religious ceremony the state has approved it first and in many cases the couple is already married before they get there. So it seems when it comes to marriage religion is optional and a choice made by the couple. With that said I also while I think it is silly for the government to say no to extra revenue, it is also well within the rights of individual states to say no, because it is a contract with the state and just like any other license it has conditions. I personally think marriage should be harder to do than just going to a courthouse or drive through chapel , it is too easy to get into and too easy to get out of and has long term effects on the lives of at least two people. Told you I had mixed feelings, if people are against it that is fine just have a better argument, if it offends you based on moral and religious grounds so what? Not everyone has the same world view and frankly how in the hell does it affect your daily life? There is a lot out there that offends me and that I hate to know exists but other than annoying me for a few minutes there isn’t much to be done about it.

I make jokes about religion yes but why? Because I can no excuses, I do it to piss people off at maybe even get a decent debate out of it. But do not get me wrong I really don’t care if you are Christian, Pagan, Muslim, Atheist, ect, ect. That is your choice but do not be shocked that others find your particular belief system odd and due to experiences with it may not be overly fond of it. We may or may not be a majorly Christian nation depending on which set of statistics you follow but there are many that are not and let’s face it folks Christians cannot even agree with each other if they did there would not be so many denominations.

That brings me to a last point we are a divided country and that folks is just how politicians want it. Ever think what would happen if the American public put aside their differences and focused on what is really going on? We have a group of politicians on both sides sitting on their rich asses getting paid more than most people will see in their life time to do what? No one party needs to have too much power want to know why Clinton’s administration had a surplus? No one party could ram stuff through or block certain things there had to be compromise and as anybody in a relationship knows you have to work together, make deals, and compromise to make it work.
